The car was driven home but the brakes faded as we reached our destination so brake work was in order as was some upholstery work, some re-chroming of the brightwork, and a new coat of paint in the original Packard Ivory (top)/ Polaris Blue (bottom). We completed it with a new set of wide whitewall tires. The '53 Packard cost $2,695 when new and is one of 26,027 4-doors produced. It has Packard's Ultramatic automatic transmission, power steering, and power brakes and is powered by a 160 hp 327 cu. in. flathead eight Packard Thunderbolt engine. With a new coat of paint, we believe this classic is a sharp car! As does the previous owner…he has visited us several times to see the work we put into the car. |
